Two student teams from the Department of Computer Engineering Techniques at the Technical Engineering College, Al-Bayan University, participated in the second edition of the Bridging Minds Innovation E-Challenge (BMIE-Challenge 2026) under the supervision of Lecturer Dr. Taha Mahmoud Abbas. The competition is organized by the BioMedical Instrumentation and Electronics (BMIE) Research Group at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), with the support of the IEEE Education Society Malaysia Chapter and Universitas Islam Indonesia. Both teams won silver medals in the Tertiary category.<\/p>\n
The BMIE-Challenge is an online innovation competition that invites participants to develop innovative ideas aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants compete by submitting a video that presents their proposed solution.<\/p>\n
The first team consisted of Abdulrahman Maad Hatem, Hasan Ahmed Faiq, Saif Firas Adnan, and Mohammed Mahmoud Adnan. They competed with the project “Sahm,” a boat designed to deploy shade balls on bodies of water to reduce evaporation. The project contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).<\/p>\n
The second team consisted of Ahmed Salem Farouq Salem, Ali Muhannad Abdulridha, Yousif Izzat Saleh Jihad Al-Din, and Amr Mahmoud Abdulrazzaq. They competed with the project “A Smart Predictive Monitoring System for Motor Health Using IoT and LoRa Technology for Industrial Applications,” which monitors the condition of industrial motors and predicts faults before they occur. The project contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure).<\/p>\n
This participation reflects the efforts of the Technical Engineering College at Al-Bayan University to promote academic openness and international cooperation, and to support the innovative projects of its students and researchers.<\/p>\n
