Under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Mohanad Sameer Al Sodani, Dean of the Technical Engineering College, the Women’s Affairs Unit at Al-Bayan University’s Technical Engineering College organized a celebration for Women’s Day, featuring a scientific seminar and a handicraft exhibition. The event was attended by a group of faculty members and students.
The seminar, titled “Islamic Miniatures and Their Use in Iraqi Folk Fashion,” was delivered by Dr. Mona Asaad Abd Alrazzaq, Director of the Popular Heritage Directorate. The lecture explored the evolution of Iraqi women’s fashion throughout history, with a particular focus on the role of Islamic miniatures in designing traditional attire and their impact on cultural identity.
Alongside the seminar, an exhibition of handicrafts was held, showcasing artistic creations made by students from the Technical Engineering College. The exhibition featured a collection of handmade artworks inspired by Iraqi heritage, adding a creative touch to the event.
The event was attended by Ms. Hind Mahmoud Shibeeb, Director of the Women’s Affairs Department at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, and Ms. Hamsa Jamal Mahdi, Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit at Al-Bayan University, along with several faculty members and students. Attendees praised the significance of such events in highlighting Iraqi heritage and reinforcing the role of women in its preservation.
