Environmental sustainability represents the endurance and productivity of biological systems and their biodiversity over time. For humans, sustainability means the ability to maintain the quality of life over the long term, which relies on preserving the natural world and the responsible use of natural resources.

University Environmental Policy:

The environmental sustainability policy is a core element of our university’s modern vision. Al-Bayan University’s environmental policy is based on several pillars, the most important of which are:

  • Promoting awareness of environmental sustainability concepts among students and faculty members at the university.
  • Launching pioneering projects in sustainability.
  • Encouraging scientific research among students and faculty on environmental issues and challenges.
  • Adopting a transportation policy within the campus to reduce pollution from vehicle emissions.
  • Implementing energy conservation and waste management plans and programs.

Environmental Decisions, Projects, and Programs:

Through its decisions, projects, and programs, the university aims to achieve the objectives outlined in its environmental policy. By involving its administrative departments, educational facilities, faculty, and staff in collaboration, Al-Bayan University strives to become an environmentally friendly green university by implementing the following measures:

  • Prohibiting vehicle entry to the campus to reduce pollution from vehicle exhaust.
  • Establishing an “Environmental Awareness Week” program, which includes student activities and events to raise environmental awareness among first-year students during the first semester.
  • Emphasizing the importance of paper conservation among faculty and staff at the university.
  • Encouraging faculty and students to conduct two annual graduation research projects on environmental issues and solutions to address the country’s environmental crises.
  • Hosting regular conferences and seminars that address environmental pollution issues in Iraq and explore ways to mitigate or resolve them.
