Abstract:
The study included collection of 40 samples from patients suffering chronic tonsillitis. Samples were taken from Al-Bayan University students. The patients’ age was ranged from (18-25) years whose separated by gender 20 male and 20 female.
Aims: to determine the Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of Lomefloxacin antibiotic against isolated bacteria from chronic tonsillitis patients and to determine the types of this isolated bacteria.
Results: From 40 tonsil swab there were only four bacteria Streptococcuspyogenes and the other was Staphylococcus aureus.
The MIC of Lomefloxacin against bacteria was at Concentration 100 ml/L when size of inoculum was 200 μg.
Conclusion: the results of the present in vitro study suggest that of Lomefloxacin has good activity against bacteria isolated from patients suffering from chronic tonsillitis caused by two genus streptococcus pyrogens and staphylococcus aureus
