The College of Nursing – Al-Bayan University organized a scientific seminar entitled:
“A Healthy Future Begins Early: Eliminating Childhood Obesity,”
delivered by Prof. Dr. Hasnain Faisal Ghazi, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Continuing Education Hall of the College.

The seminar addressed the causes and contributing factors of childhood obesity and discussed the most effective scientific methods for prevention and treatment. It emphasized the importance of early health awareness to reduce obesity rates and promote healthy lifestyles.
Dr. Ghazi also highlighted the vital role of families and educational institutions in encouraging healthy eating behaviors and regular physical activity to ensure a healthier future for younger generations.

Key Outcomes:
1. Emphasizing the need to develop educational programs targeting parents and schools on the risks of obesity and methods of prevention.
2. Recommending the inclusion of healthy nutrition and physical activity concepts in early educational curricula.
3. Calling for field studies to assess childhood obesity rates in Iraq and to design national strategies for its reduction.
4. Strengthening cooperation between health and educational institutions to promote public health awareness and encourage healthy dietary habits.
