As part of its continuous efforts to develop academic and professional skills, the College of Nursing at Al-Bayan University, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Center, organized a training course titled “Therapeutic Communication Skills”.
The course was delivered by Professor Dr. Saja Hashem Mohammed a faculty member at the College of Nursing, who reviewed the fundamental concepts and latest techniques in effective communication within the healthcare environment.
The two-day course was held on Sunday and Monday, October 19-20, 2025, in the college’s Continuing Education Hall.
Key Outcomes:
• Clarification of the fundamental principles and importance of therapeutic communication in improving healthcare quality.
• Accurate differentiation between therapeutic communication strategies (such as active listening, paraphrasing, and clarification) and common communication barriers (such as premature advice or false reassurance).
• Acquisition of the skill of using open-ended questions and motivational interviewing techniques to accurately assess patient needs and enhance adherence to the treatment plan.
• Training on how to build a professional, trusting relationship between the healthcare provider and the patient, thereby enhancing responsiveness to the treatment plan.
