As part of the scientific activities organized by the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Education – Department of English, Al-Bayan University , a scientific lecture entitled “Literacy Programs in Rural and Remote Areas” was held. The lecture addressed one of the most significant educational and social issues that directly affect the present and future of education in Iraq.

The lecture aimed to shed light on the current state of illiteracy in Iraq, particularly in rural and remote areas, to identify the factors contributing to its persistence, and to review the programs and plans implemented by the government and educational institutions to reduce its prevalence.
In conclusion, the lecture emphasized that literacy eradication is not merely an educational project, but a humanitarian and developmental cause that contributes to building an aware and equitable society, where access to education and knowledge is a right for all.
