part of the practical application of the “Mental Health Nursing” course, senior standing students at the College of Nursing, Al-Bayan University, are continuing their clinical training program at Ibn Rushd Psychiatric Training Hospital.
An essential component of this training involves in-depth scientific discussion sessions for the students. This session was held following the students’ completion of direct clinical interviews and psychiatric assessments of patients.
The session was dedicated to discussing and analyzing the cases that the students had personally followed. An interactive dialogue took place focusing on the clinical nursing assessments and the psychological dimensions of each case. Under the supervision of faculty members, the students discussed the best nursing care interventions and proposed treatment plans based on their practical observations.
This methodology aims to enable students to transition smoothly from theory to application, training them to connect academic knowledge with immediate clinical practice. These analytical sessions also contribute to honing their critical thinking skills and building the necessary confidence to practice their humanitarian profession competently.
During the discussion, the students demonstrated an advanced level of observational accuracy, analytical ability, and a great passion for applying their knowledge, reflecting the success of the training program.
Key Educational Outcomes of the Session:
• Application of clinical interviewing skills and direct assessment of psychiatric cases.
• Development of students’ ability to analyze and discuss clinical cases using a critical scientific approach.
• Training in formulating nursing care plans based on direct patient assessment.
• Strengthening the bridge between academic theory and immediate practical application in the hospital environment.
