Under the title “Children are the foundation of tomorrow,” the Human Rights Unit, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Health and Medical Techniques, organized an awareness lecture entitled “Children’s Rights and Protection from Violence and Neglect.” The lecture was delivered by instructor Rusul Adnan Dawood and included several important concepts through which the community can be further educated about the importance of children’s rights, most notably:
1. Define the concept of violence against children.
2. List the different types of violence that children are exposed to.
3. Explain the causes and factors leading to violence against children.
4. Explain the rights of the child as stipulated in international conventions.
5. Demonstrate the psychological and social effects of violence on the child and society.
