Under the patronage of the President of Al-Bayan University, Prof. Dr. Haider Talib Al-Emara, and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Nursing, Prof. Dr. wafaa Mohammed Attoof
, the Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance (Psychological Counseling Unit) organized a scientific awareness seminar titled: “The Phenomenon of Drug and Psychotropic Substance Abuse in Iraqi Society.”
The event took place on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the Continuing Education Hall.
The seminar was presented by Prof. Dr. Saja Hashem Mohammed
, who addressed the psychological and social dimensions of the spread of this phenomenon, highlighting the grave health risks associated with substance abuse. This event was held within the framework of observing the “Iraqi Week for Combating Drugs,” reflecting the Deanship’s commitment to intellectually and psychologically fortifying students against these harmful societal scourges.
Key Outcomes of the Seminar:

•⁠ ⁠Legal & Social Awareness: Enhancing students’ awareness regarding the legal and social consequences associated with drug abuse and trafficking.
