Pursuant to the academic curriculum established by the Department of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, the College of Nursing at Al-Bayan University organized a scientific field visit to Al-Rashad Psychiatric Training Hospital. This initiative was conducted under the supervision of a distinguished group of faculty members.
The visit encompassed a comprehensive tour of the hospital’s various wards and departments. Students gained first-hand insight into the mechanisms of nursing and medical care delivery for inpatients and familiarized themselves with the established therapeutic protocols for managing diverse psychiatric conditions.
Furthermore, the itinerary included an inspection of the hospital’s rehabilitative and service facilities, most notably the Art Therapy Unit. Here, students examined patients’ artistic outputs, recognizing the critical role of art in psychological rehabilitation and therapy. The tour also extended to the central library and administrative sections, providing students with an overview of the integrated environment the institution offers its residents.
Key Outcomes of the Visit:
• Clinical Integration: Reinforcing theoretical mental health nursing concepts through the practical observation of clinical cases.
• Understanding Rehabilitation Modalities: Comprehending the significance of occupational and rehabilitative therapies (such as art and reading) as complementary adjuncts to pharmacotherapy.
• Enhancing the Humanitarian Perspective: Cultivating ethical sensitivity and humanitarian awareness among students regarding effective communication and interaction with psychiatric patients.
