As part of the scientific activities of the College of Education, a distinguished scientific lecture entitled:
“The Role of Humor in Language Acquisition”
was held on Saturday, December 20, 2025. The lecture was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Sally Abdul Ameer Mahdi, who addressed the importance of integrating humor into language learning environments and its effective role in enhancing interaction, motivating learners, and facilitating the acquisition of language skills.
The lecture highlighted the positive impact of humor in reducing classroom anxiety, increasing learners’ motivation, and improving linguistic comprehension and communication. It was supported by educational examples and modern instructional applications that demonstrated how humor can be effectively employed in language teaching contexts.
