On 24 March 2026, the College of Nursing at our university, through the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department (Occupational Health and Safety Unit), organized a specialized scientific seminar titled “The Concept of Occupational Health and Safety,” with the participation of several faculty members and staff.
The seminar included a comprehensive review of the fundamental concepts and terminology related to occupational safety, highlighting the preventive measures necessary within academic and service work environments. The lecturers discussed the current Iraqi legal frameworks and legislations that support these concepts, emphasizing the necessity of aligning field practices with both national and international standards.
Furthermore, the seminar focused on the applied aspects of occupational health, explaining the direct correlation between providing a safe work environment and enhancing performance efficiency and productivity in both industrial and service institutions. This ensures the protection of the college’s human and material resources.
Key Seminar Outcomes:
• Promoting Cultural Awareness: Establishing a culture of occupational safety as an essential part of institutional work ethics.
• Legal Compliance: Stressing the importance of implementing laws and instructions issued by relevant authorities regarding worker protection.
• Link to Productivity: Demonstrating that investing in safety procedures is not a financial burden but a fundamental means of reducing risks and increasing service feasibility.
• Preventive Recommendations: Developing proposals to improve rapid emergency response mechanisms within the college’s corridors and laboratories.
