As part of the scientific and training curriculum aimed at enhancing students’ practical skills, the Community Health Nursing Department at the College of Nursing in Al-Bayan University, organized a scientific and training visit for fourth-stage students to the Nutrition Research Institute, affiliated with the Public Health Department of the Ministry of Health.
The visit included an applied scientific lecture as part of a series of systematic practical training programs. The lecture focused on modern mechanisms adopted in nutritional status assessment and provided a detailed introduction to anthropometric indicators.
Furthermore, students received hands-on training on accurate methods for measuring height and weight and calculating the Body Mass Index (BMI).
The training session also featured a review of advanced nutritional assessment methods and diagnostic mechanisms for malnutrition cases according to approved international standards. This initiative contributes directly to preparing competent nursing staff capable of assessing and monitoring nutritional cases with high professionalism within primary healthcare programs.
