Study the MIC of Lomefloxacin on Number of Isolated bacteria from chronic tonsillitis patients

2019-04-22T07:32:15+00:002019-04-22|

Hassanain Sahib, Abdulrahman M. Hasan Hadi Abstract: The study included collection of 40 samples from patients suffering chronic tonsillitis. Samples were taken from Al-Bayan University students. The patients' age was ranged from (18-25) years whose separated by gender 20 male and 20 female. Aims: to determine the Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of Lomefloxacin antibiotic against isolated bacteria from chronic tonsillitis patients and to determine the types of this isolated bacteria. Results: From 40 tonsil swab there were only four bacteria Streptococcuspyogenes and the other was Staphylococcus aureus. The MIC of Lomefloxacin against bacteria was at Concentration 100 ml/L when size of [...]

EVALUATION OF MILTEFOSINE ACTIVITY AGAINST VIABILITY AND DNA INTEGRITY OF LEISHMANIA DONOVANI PROMASTIGOTES IN VITRO

2019-04-22T07:30:49+00:002019-04-22|

Braa A. Alshakir and Khawla H. Zghair ABSTRACT Visceral leishmaniasis is the most severe disease from all leishmaniasis forms and can be fatal without treatment. Miltefosine was the first oral drug approved in several countries for treatment of visceral and cutaneous leishmaniasis. Regional variations in susceptibility of Leishmania donovani clinical isolates have been recorded to sodium stibogluconate but not other antileishmanial drugs. This study investigates the viability of Leishmaniadonovani promastigotes using the colorimetric MTT assay and DNA integrity in vitro after exposed to different concentrations of miltefosine in comparison to untreated parasites. The results were expressed as inhibitory concentration IC50. The [...]

Some Important Prognostic Factors in Breast Cancers in Iraqi Women: A retrospective study

2019-04-22T07:28:53+00:002019-04-22|

BASIM MOHAMMED ABDULMAJEED FAISAL ALI LATTEF AHMED SALAHUDDIN MOHAMMED Abstract: Based onour knowledge about the importance of some prognostic factors in breast cancers, a retrospective study on 101 Iraqi female patients was done, using the following parameters; patient’s age, tumor grade, hormones Estrogen receptor (Er.) status, and human epidermal growth factor receptor2 (Her2/neu) expression. A significant relationship between younger age group (< or = 35 years) and high grade tumors was detected. Significant number of those patients in the study had Er+ve tumors. No significant relationship has been found between Er-ve tumors and high grade histology. Most of postmenopausal women in [...]

Hyaluronidase Co-administration with Oncolytic Newcastle Disease Virus Enhances Its Antitumor Efficacy in Mice Mammary Adenocarcinoma

2019-04-22T07:27:33+00:002019-04-22|

Hasanain Sahib, Ahmed Majeed Al-Shammari, Bahaa Abdullah Al-Rubaii Abstract Purpose:codelivery evaluation of the of ovine hyaluronidase enzyme with oncolytic Newcastle Disease Virus  to determine spreading  of the virus throughout Adenocarcinoma  tumors Models in mice, thereby leading to a greater overall antitumor efficacy in tumor models. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Combination effect between Ovine origin Hyaluronidase and Newcastle Disease Virus and compare the invasion of oncolytic virus in combination with Hyaluronidase enzyme with oncolytic virus only. Experimental Design: the ovine hyaluronidase dose that cooadminstrated with 6.5x105virus concentration per mi was 200 international unit that provided best invasion efficiency and spread [...]

Metal Complexes of Proline-Azo Dyes, Synthesis, Characterization, Dying Performance and Antibacterial

2019-04-22T07:25:20+00:002019-04-22|

RAFAL SALAM KADHIM  and  ALYA KHIDER ABBAS Abstract The synthesis, structural spectroscopic properties of 4-(2-benzimidazolylazo)proline (BMP) and its complexes derived from [Cu(II), Ag(I) and Au(III)] salts were done. The mode of bonding for the complexes were accomplished based on elemental analysis, FTIR, UV-Vis and HNMR spectroscopy, magnetic measurement and molar conductivity. It has been found that the ligand (BMP) behaves as N,N-neutral bidentate which was forming chelates with molar ratio (1:2) (M:L) stoichiometry for [Cu(II) and Ag(I)] while Au(III) complex form molar ratio (1:1) at optimum concentration and pH as well as (lmax). The stability constant and Gibbs free energy for [...]
